Each day starts at 9.00 and ends at approximately 17.00h.

Lunch is served between 12:30 and 13:30.

Coffee breaks in the morning and the afternoon, exact timing depends on experimental requirements.

Monday June 7^th:

Tuesday-Thursday june 8^th-10^th:

Mornings:             Presentation skills

Afternoons:          Experimental work, each day one of:

        DPIV Particle image velocimetry: measurement of complex flow fields in a rigid geometry. Accuracy, resolution, error sources.

        Mechanical properties of fresh porcine carotid arteries: A common carotid artery is tested under physiological circumstances, and its pressure-diameter behaviour recorded. A commonly used material model (Holzapfel) will be fitted to the data.

        Hemodynamic measurements on a beating, pumping isolated porcine heart. The behaviour of a porcine heart in terms of pressure-volume relationship is tested, and the effect of stenting of coronary arteries on their epicardial motion. As a real scientific experiment, an attempt will be made to induce stable heart failure into each of the hearts used in the three days, using beta-blockers.

Friday June 11^th:
